The second Nepal Trade Fair 2007

The second Nepal Trade Fair 2007 held in Dhaka from 22nd, March 2007. Ramesh Prasad Khanal, Charge d' Affaires of the Embassy of Nepal in Dhaka and Golam Mostakim, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce of Bangladesh jointly inaugurated the Second Nepal Trade Fair-2007 amidst a function.

The fair was jointly organized by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Supplies, the Trade and Export Promotion Centre (TEPC) of Nepal and the Embassy of Nepal in Dhaka with the aim of increasing bi-lateral trade. A press release issued by Embassy of Nepal in Dhaka said, a large number of high level officials of the Bangladeshi government, diplomatic missions and business community of Bangladesh and Nepali community in Dhaka were present at the inaugural of the trade fair at the premises of Nepali Embassy in Dhaka.

Nepali products ranging from handicrafts, jewelry, wood carving, pashmina, herbal and food items etc are on the display at the fair. Trade and tourism promotional materials were also distributed on the occasion.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Mostakim urged businessmen of both countries to further increase trade volume between Bangladesh and Nepal. Stating that in view of the close and cordial relations, economic relations should also be given top priority in order to strengthen bilateral relations, Mostakim said, “Two countries should work closely to remove impediments to increase trade volume.”

Mahabub-uz-Zaman, Director General of the South Asia Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh said that bilateral relations between two friendly countries have remained cordial and smooth and stated that the need of the hour was to give a momentum to the trade and commercial ties between the two countries. Speaking at the same program, Charge d' Affaires Khanal highlighted the significance of the fair being held in Dhaka. “The Fair is indication of increasing trade and commercial relations between the two countries,” he said. Narayan Prasad Shrestha, Officiating Executive Director of the Trade and Export Promotion Centre, Nepal expressed hopes that such fair will further boost the economic & commercial relations between Nepal & Bangladesh.
