Housing and Household Characteristics: In the upazila, there are 39,128 households. Distribution of households by type shows that there are 99.61% dwelling units, 0.16% institutional and 0.23% other units.
Household Size: The average household size (dwelling) for the upazila is 4.7 persons. For rural area the size is same i.e. 4.7 and for urban area the size is slightly larger i.e. 5.1.

Housing condition of Debiganj upazila is predominantly kacha. It is found in the table that 9.51% households live in jhupri, 86.57% households live in kacha houses, 3.38% households live in semi-paka houses and the remaining 0.54% households live in paka houses in the upazila. Housing condition of urban area is better. In urban area 4.93% households live in paka houses, 20.86% households live in semi-paka houses, 68.79% households live in kacha houses and 5.42% households live in jhupri as against 0.26% households in paka, 2.29% in semi-paka, 87.68% in kacha and the remaining 9.77% households live in jhupri houses respectively in rural area.
Source of Drinking Water: In Debiganj upazila 84.42% dwelling households drink tube-well water, 0.19% drink tap water, 0.80% drink deep tube-well water, 0.31% drink pond water and the remaining 14.28% dwelling households drink water from other sources.
Sanitation: In the upazila, 13.60% of dwelling households have sanitary latrines with 11.53% in rural area and 47.80% in urban area. A total of 32.87% of the households have non-sanitary latrines with 33.43% in rural area and 23.75% in urban area. In this Upazila, 53.52% of the households have no toilet facility.
Access to Electricity: All the ten unions of the upazila have been brought under Rural Electrification Program. However, a total of 6.10% of the dwelling households reported to have electricity connection in the entire upazila.
Ownership of Agricultural Land: In Debiganj upazila, 60.49% of the dwelling households own and 39.51% do not own agricultural land. Percentage of ownership of agricultural land is 42.16% in urban area as against 61.60% in rural area.
